GALLAGHER PREMIERSHIP rules
The Gallagher Premiership Rugby competition sees the 10 clubs face off over 18 rounds, with each team facing each other home and away over the course of the season. Each season sees an intense battle for the 'Top Four', with the leading four sides at the end of the regular season qualifying for the play-offs. In the play-offs, home advantage goes to the top two sides in the final league table: 1st faces 4th at the top side's home ground and 2nd takes on 3rd on its home turf. The winners of the play-offs will then face off in the Gallagher Premiership Rugby Final - the biggest day of the season - to be crowned the champions of Premiership Rugby. The 2023/24 Final will take place at the iconic Twickenham Stadium - the Home of English Rugby. The top eight sides all qualify for the following season's Investec Champions Cup - the premier European competition equivalent to football's UEFA Champions League. The sides outside the top eight play in the EPCR Challenge Cup. The bottom side in the Gallagher Premiership Rugby table will face a two-legged 'all-or-nothing; play-off match with the RFU Championship's top side, subject to Premiership Rugby eligibility criteria being met by the Championship side. How League Table points are awarded in the Gallagher Premiership: Win = 4 points Draw = 2 points Loss = 0 points Bonus points are also awarded in Gallagher Premiership Rugby: scoring 4 or more tries is worth 1 bonus point and losing a match by 7 match points or fewer is also worth a bonus point, often referred to as a “losing bonus point”.
